The McGill X-1 Accelerator is an intensive 10-week summer program to learn the skills to become better entrepreneurs from June 15 to September 9.

The program is composed of a speaker-series, mentorship, workshops, advisory board meetings and time-to-build hours

This year’s group is the first cohort of the program. The McGill X-1 selects the most promising teams among all faculties.

Selected teams will experience an action-learning educational program with the support of our network of mentors, professors, entrepreneurs, lawyers, and other partners within the Montreal and McGill community.

During 10 weeks, teams will formalize their legal structure, study their market segmentation and customers to better understand what drives product/market fit. The program will culminate at demo day, with the participants pitching their companies to the Montreal startup community.

To further accelerate networking and knowledge sharing, the McGill X-1 exposes and matches teams with local industry professionals and entrepreneurship veterans for one-on-one and office-hour mentorship.

Guest Speaker Workshops

At least once a week, guest speakers are invited to the McGill X-1 to share their expertise in various areas of entrepreneurship. It starts with a talk followed by an interactive workshop to get feedback from the speaker.

Demo Day

The 10-week program culminates into one day: September 9, 2015.
Teams will present their companies to an audience of investors, entrepreneurs, and students from Montreal and beyond!

     Framework and Reading

To facilitate program content, lectures, workshops and board meetings, the founders are using a framework from the book Disciplined Entrepreneurship by Bill Aulet.

 Board Meetings

During the 10-week program, there will be 3 advisory board meetings. At the beginning of each part of the program, milestones will be specified to each team with capital allocated to every deliverable. Funding will be provided based on milestone completion.

Every week, twice a week, each team presents their progress, focusing on what has been done, what the team is working on, and what support the team can provide to the other companies.
